2015 Recap - My Favorite Moments

Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is starting off great for you. It's actually a rest day for me, but I spent some time thinking about how great 2015 was for me. I would love to have another year as good as the last. It was a year of improvement and firsts for me. Here's a look at how 2015 went, along with some of my favorite photos from the past 365 days.

February - Joined a Run Club and Left With a Running Family
I am so lucky to have joined the GRVL Runners. I have forged such strong friendships and am forever grateful for their support and love. If you aren't part of a run club yet, I highly recommend it!

GRVL Runners

April - Ran My First Marathon
I picked a tough race for my first marathon, but it was such a humbling experience. The training process was tough, but finding out I was anemic through training for this race helped me become a better runner through the rest of the year.

Big Sur Marathon

May - PR'd My Half Marathon
By a lot. And it was just a week after my first marathon. Talk about a mind blower. I couldn't believe that I went from a 1:42 to a 1:34. I also realized the amazing connection runners have when I spent the whole race running next to this sweet kid Jeison.

OC Half Marathon

June - I WON a 10K
First female overall. Still, without a doubt, one of the most amazing moments of my life. I kept telling myself it was just because no one faster showed up that day, but I couldn't discredit myself. I ran hard, and I won.

July -  I Climbed Machu Picchu
Not running related, but definitely an active vacation smack in the middle of marathon training. An experience I'll never forget and a reminder that life is about more than just running.

October - Paced A Friend
I paced my friend, Juan, to a 30 minute half marathon PR. Being able to help someone else accomplish their goal is an amazing experience. I'm hoping to become a pacer for races in the future.

Long Beach Half Marathon

November - I Won the Turkey Trot
Improved from 2nd female overall in 2014, to first female overall in 2015. Amazing what a year of learning and hard work can do.

December - Qualified for Boston
My third marathon and last race of the year. I took 23 minutes off my first marathon from just 7 months before. I qualified for Boston. I couldn't believe it.

I hope 2016 is off to a great start for you. What was your favorite memory from 2015?

J
